Dallas has dirty blond hair, blue eyes, and is of average height. He spends a bit more time on his appearance that an average boy his age would, as he always makes sure that he looks above presentable. He wears Converse, jeans, and leather jackets. Name brand clothing fill his closet and he makes sure that he looks good.
Dallas is intelligent, but not at the top of his classes because he puts more of his focus on his social life. He's not mean at all and doesn't have many pet peeves. Like any normal teenager he can be mischievous, but he doesn't mean to cross the line. He's quite humble and will stand up for what he believes in and is willing to verbally defend himself or any loved ones, or telling off anybody who's mistreating others. Overall, he's very social and outgoing, but can be pretty tough.
Dallas was born in Blackwood Mountain to a happy family even though they were never financially stable. He would always go out and play in the woods near where they lived with his mom while his dad was at work when Dallas came home from school. His brother would sometimes join them when he wasn't reading or studying.
With his parents being a hair stylist and a waiter, both with unused degrees, they never had much money to rely on. Almost everybody in his family worked hard and stayed together, but that all changed. When Dallas was coming home early from school with his brother, they came across two people in a car, kissing. One was their mother and the other one was not their father. That night, they told their father, who held a family meeting with their mother to discuss this. She made up the excuse that he was an old flame who ignited the kiss. Unfortunately, the kids saw right through her. They looked through her purse the next day and saw a block of cash that was enough to buy a new apartment and also saw an airplane ticket. Feeling betrayed, the kids stole the money and ripped up the ticket.
They did not want to tell their father; he was under enough stress trying to get a job as a lawyer. It was not until she woke him up, told him that she needed a better life, and left. Since the family's income deteriorated, they got kicked out of their apartment. After living in his dad's parent's house for a month, his dad received a job as an attorney. He soon met a lady named Leda. They started bonding more and more. When he brought her home to meet Dallas and Ryder, they instantly treated her like family and she treated them like they were her own sons.
When they got married, Dallas' mother attended the wedding. The family thanked her for coming, but Dallas ignored her and her new boyfriend. She tried to persuade him to go and live with her in Malibu, but Dallas turned her down. He hasn't seen her since, apart from bimonthly letters.
Their income has gone up significantly, due to their stepmother being a nurse and their father getting more clients.
|I wanted a character that didn't live a perfect, suburban life, but one who actually knew what it was like to struggle because of the economy. I planned him for a while and I spent a lot of time pondering his personality. Originally, he was going to be a rebellious teenager, but I decided to make him into the boy next door.|
