Mason was born in New York City, and was always living the high life. His parents had the money to buy him anything and everything, and on top of that, he'd never needed to work to sustain himself. Even chores were taken care of by his housekeeper. He just had all the time in the world to focus on himself and what he wanted to do. He attended private schools his whole life, and never spent a lot of time outside of his elite circle. He and his friends did love listening to music though, even if a lot of it was the sorts of music that was about how much rich people sucked.
As Mason finished high school, a few of his friends started inviting him out to bars and clubs outside of their usual experience. While he was there, he became familiar with a lot of the local acts who were performing, and after talking to a few of them he found that most of them would just keep playing in the hopes that one day, they would get signed to a label. Mason, who was attending NYU, majoring in business management, decided that instead of continuing his mother's business, he could use his opportunities to start his own business. He switched his degree so that he was also minoring in music, and decided that once he graduated, he was going to start his own record label, where he could sign up and coming performers who would normally not get noticed.
Mason obviously hired a lot of help to get his company afloat. He had a few friends from his degree who didn't have the finance to start their own record label but would have loved it, and then he found other people who had some experience with other record labels and did what he could to persuade them to help with his. Soon enough, his label took off, and his unknown acts started getting radio play, and making a name for themselves. Shortly after turning twenty-five, Mason made the decision to expand his brand to L.A. where he didn't have to look very far to find raw talent. While in L.A. he also met his would-be wife, Erin Carver. Erin initially came on board looking for work experience in a record label, but she soon became Mason's right-hand-man, and eventually their platonic relationship turned sexual or romantic, depending on whose story you hear.
Mason enjoyed Erin's company, and after two years of seeing each other in secret, Erin revealed that she was pregnant with his child. Initially shocked, Mason discussed things with his PR manager, who suggested that if he wanted to maintain his family-friendly image, he should show how much he loves his family. Mason decided to propose to Erin and the two of them were married three months later, in a 'small' (in Mason's opinion) ceremony. It was clear immediately that Mason's family didn't approve of him marrying some poor girl who only got where she was by sleeping with her boss, but instead of opposing it they just started gossiping about her. Erin would often ask Mason to get them to stop, but he would just shrug and ignore the problem.
Erin gave birth to Mason's first son, Jackson, on September 3, 2011. Although Mason enjoyed spending time with Jackson, he was by no means equipped to be a father, and he hadn't picked up many parenting skills from his own parents. He and Erin would argue over almost everything, even things as simple as whether Erin should stay home and raise Jackson or whether they should just get him a nanny. Erin and Mason almost broke up over this, but Mason decided to just let her continue doing what she wanted, and leave her be, while he focused more on his label.
In 2012, Erin fell pregnant again, this time to twins, Lacey and Reign, who were born on May 19, 2013. Mason again tried to spend time with his children, but wasn't quite sure how. Instead, he traded dirty diapers for working overtime at the label. He start expending his time and effort trying to grow his record label, rather than his own family. In 2014, Mason decided to expand his label once more, to a small town which was home to one of the best arts colleges in the country, Miduna Beach. He worked on purchasing property to turn into his business, and spent the better half of 2014 helping to design his building. All of the trips he was taking away from home made it a lot easier for him to spend time away from Erin, and gave him more than enough motive to go on dates with other women, which he took advantage of.
Recently, construction on his Miduna Beach office has just been completed, and he's bought himself a family home in Lebeaux, although Erin insisted on staying in California and closer to her mom, who was helping her out with the twins. Mason, who had very little investment in his relationship with Erin, decided to move out on his own, seeing as he was insistent that he knew what he wanted his records to sound like, and he knew more than anyone else what sort of things it took to make a star.
