Matthieu often stays at home, so he often wears sleepwear. When in school, he wears mostly all black- but wears brighter colors every so often from his fashionista sister pressuring him to 'brighten up' his wardrobe. He is secretly eccentric about Halloween- and often spends his gargantuan allowance on costumes from his favorite characters from books- which does cheer up his sister's dilemma over his supposed "wardrobe crisis".
Matthieu is a sweet, respectful yet rather introverted French boy with a passion for reading, often spending most of his time in his study burying his face in thick encyclopedias or classical novels. When outside, he often tries to avoid conversation as much as possible- and it proves difficult whenever accompanied by his overprotective sister, who is- rather irritatingly for Matthieu himself, personally- very talkative and extroverted, the exact opposite of himself. Albeit his quiet persona, he is warm-hearted, and would sometimes take short walks along the streets, chatting with a few friends of his own.
Even at birth, his parents had high expectations from the boy- which constantly pressured him to do better, often provoking him to have dizzy spells all throughout his childhood over lack of sleep due to lengthy and dull lessons by his strict tutors, specifically hired for him himself. Having a sense of pity over her younger brother, the elder Beaumont, Josephine- began sneaking him out of the garden during the early morning to dance around their vineyard and make flower crowns.
School was another challenge- and his situation progressively got worse as he was often challenged into fistfights- leading him to return home with several scrapes and bruises over the course of a few months before Josephine caught him shivering on the basketball court as his bullies laughed and spat at him one day, before chasing them away out of fear of reporting them to their parents. Soon enough, he was being treated like a king by his old bullies, due to Josephine's watchful eye over him and her newfound skill in Judo. The whole situation had cooled off for the course of a few years, before one summer day when his father came in and told him to pack his bags and travel overseas with his sister somewhere abroad.
The two soon were off to Josephine's chosen location- which was Miduna Beach, since she had loved the beach her entire childhood and was perfect for wearing most of her clothes, which consisted of many pastel-colored clothing. The two eventually adjusted to their living conditions, before continuing on to their daily activities- just as life was back then.
Charlotte and Frederic Beaumont- Matthieu's mother and father. Since he was a boy, and the line of the Beaumonts required only a male to hold the reins of the household, they expected a lot from him, causing him to have several ailments throughout his childhood.
Josephine Beaumont- Matthieu's older sister. The two generally get along well, living together in their modest apartment- but it irks him sometimes that she constantly tries to get him outside for some sunlight, calling him the "bookworm vampire" just to tease him.
Matthieu, being rather shy and recluse- often clings to his sister, making him barely have any friends in his new home, although he does appreciate any kind offer for a chat at a cafe or a trip to the library by any passing stranger.
