Nick's mother died in childbirth, which could possibly have been the trigger that made the rest of his life go the way it did. His father was extremely shaken up by her death and blamed him for it. He was usually sent to his grandmother a lot during his early days because his father couldn't stand to look at him. When Nick was 5, his dad got another woman pregnant and wed her so that they could raise a family together. The lady was nice and she actually took care of Nick, unlike his father. However, the rush of being a married mother to two at such a young age got to her and when Nick was 9, she committed suicide.
By this point, their father was a mess and was barely around because he was always passed out or getting drunk. Their grandparents took care of them full time. This didn't last too long, however, because when Nick was 11, their grandfather died. Grandma couldn't raise two boys by herself so she made their dad get up and get a job to raise his kids. This made his grudge for his children even stronger because he thought that if they'd never been born, he'd still be with the love of his life and none of this would've happened. This was the time Nick started to stand up for himself and he was always beaten, being told to respect his father. When Marcus tried to do the same, Nick would take up for him and just take his beating for him. After so long, Nick grew tired of this abuse.
At 15, their grandmother died and that was the last straw for their dad. Nick knew he had to get out of the situation and that's why he went to some of his friends at school and got into dealing drugs to make money for an escape. On his 17th birthday, he was able to move him and Marcus out of home into a sub-par motel, but it didn't matter because they didn't have to put up with their father anymore. By this point, Nick had dropped out of school and was dealing full-time. Eventually Marcus caught onto how Nick was getting this money and wanted to get into it - he even offered to get his friend Damian into it as well. While hesitant, he made them agree to never take any of the drugs, and he let them do it but he only gave them the cookie cutter drugs like cigarettes and booze while he dealt heavier stuff.
One day, they were outside when they met a girl crying about running away and instantly Nick's heart swelled for the poor girl who was in need. Without even thinking about it, he let her stay with them until she got on her feet. This didn't last long because missing person fliers started going around and she had to show face before they were caught up. She was put into another home but she kept running away to hang out with Nick and Marcus because none of them were good for her. After a while, Marcus found out about the boardinghouse out in Blackwood and told her about it, and from that point forward she moved there.
Currently, Nick is trying to keep everyone safe and happy while maintaining the drug game. He's also recently picked up a cover business, buying and selling used car parts to hide his tracks. At some point, his relationship with Shandee turned romantic, and they started dating.
|I love how despite all his hardships, he still has a heart of gold and he is always looking out for everyone else. His history fascinates me and I absolutely adore him. I can't wait to develop him beyond what's already in his history.|
