Portrayer's note: I really liked this plot and I wish I could continue with it but I'm just too busy :( If I have more free time on my hands one day, I might bring it back.

Noah was born in Ohio when his parents were on their Honeymoon, although not long after he was born they were forced to return to their home in Blackwood Mountain so that they could look after him properly. After he turned one, his parents decided that they would move to Barfield as there were more job opportunities for them. They started off by renting a house for the first thirteen months, but then bought a house which they are happy with and hadn't moved out of that house until the world started to end.
It was on Noah's seventeenth birthday when things started going wrong. Armed policemen started patrolling all the streets in Barfield and Lebeaux without any explanation. This continued for about two months (while everyone kept going to school and going about their daily lives, just with policemen everywhere) until finally there was an explanation on the television about what was going on. This would have been great, except that at that exact time, all media connections such as radio and television were completely cut off and no one ever heard about what was going on. The internet kept working for a day or so, and it was flooding with conspiracy theories of unemployed middle aged men and teenagers with nothing better to think about, but then it was cut off too.
After these two months, students kept going to school and most people kept going to work. All television, radio stations and anything of the kind were promptly shut down and all the people that worked at them became unemployed. Noah knew that he wouldn’t be able to attend school for much longer, so for a few days, he tried just not going, but when the policemen found him at the skate park or at an oval, they asked him where he went to school (which he naively answered honestly) and then gave him a lift in their car to his school.
By September, 2014, all schools were shut down, as well as supermarkets, shopping centres, small businesses, hospitals and many other workplaces. Families rapidly lost everything they needed to survive and by November many families were living on the streets. Once houses weren’t being occupied anymore, they would be demolished. People living on the streets and even those lucky to still have houses got sick with new diseases and had no means of getting better, with hospitals closed down. Diseases spread and soon people on the street started dying. The bodies would be taken away by the policeman with no chance for loved ones to even say goodbye.
By February 1st, 2015, Noah’s family was living on the street. Their house had been demolished and his father was very sick. He became very close with a girl from his school, Ellie Abrahms, who didn’t know much of before, but she was one of the only ones left. Together they searched rubbish bins and junk yards (which were growing bigger and bigger) to find the stuff they needed to survive. Soon Noah’s father died, but he continued to care for his sister and mother. Ellie’s mother died, but her grandfather, Harry, stayed standing and was a source of huge encouragement and inspiration for both Noah and Ellie. By March, there really weren’t that many people left in the area. There were only about fifty people left in Barfield. Things actually got just a little bit better than that because less people to feed and cater for meant more food for each person. Ellie and Noah witnessed dead bodies being taken away by the policemen and, on occasion, dying bodies being shot to put the person out of their misery. Noah suffered from nightmares and paranoid fears of gunshots which took over his life slightly. Noah’s mother got sick and died. Ellie’s grandmother died. Noah and his sister moved in with Ellie and her grandfather. Being together made things easier. Noah fell in love with Ellie. She had the same feelings for him. They started a relationship which made the darker days seem brighter.
Noah used to be negative and a bit of a downer, but the world crumbling around him has turned him into something of an optimist. The same thing is happening all over the world. Countries that were in poverty even before disaster struck have mostly already perished. Parts of America are still going, as are some countries in Europe, especially in Scandinavia. Some countries in Asia as well as Australia are also still standing. Only about five countries in South America and Africa haven’t died out. Noah hopes that one day this will all be over and the world can start again as an even better place than what it used to be.
