Shandee loves wearing all sorts of mix-matched clothes. Almost all of her clothes bought come from thrift shops or second-hand shops. She's also a lot curvier and taller than a lot of the other girls she knows, and especially out of the girls she works with. She takes pride in this, however, and likes to show off her assets.
Her hair is naturally very frizzy and dark, and if it gets long enough, she'll get one of her friends to braid it for her, otherwise, she just prefers to keep it short so it doesn't annoy her too much. Occasionally she'll straighten it, if she can be bothered. She also has ear piercings, a nose piercing and a tattoo on her belly which she got when she was sixteen.
Shandee likes to be straightforward and to the point. She can't stand liars, and almost all of the time, she'll be honest with people, unless she knows it will get her in trouble. She's also quite the charmer, getting along with anyone at any place. Although clubs aren't her favorite places, and she has more fun while she's on her own, she still enjoys working there and striking up conversations with other people her own age.
However, years of abuse from different foster families has left Shandee pretty messed up. While she's fine most of the time, she occasionally has nightmares or worrying thoughts that will keep her up at night. She's also wary of going to places where her old families went because of the fear that she would see them again. She ran away a few times, and spent weeks with drug dealer friends, where she started to pick up a slight substance addiction. This story very rarely surfaces, and only a few people know the full situation, until Shandee trusts them.
Her friendly nature comes across easily. She'll be friendly to anyone she meets unless they give her a reason not to be. Gaining her trust takes a whole lot more, however, because she's let in other people before, only for them to betray her trust. Opening up takes a lot of confidence on her behalf.
Shandee was born to Keisha and Derrick Williams in 1997, and she lived with them in Barfield until she was three years old. Two months after her third birthday, Shandee and her two parents, as well as one unborn younger sibling were all involved in a fatal car accident, which only Shandee survived. Her dad's sister, Charmaine immediately stepped up and offered to take care of the child, seeing as she was Shandee's godmother. Charmaine set up a new room for Shandee in her Miduna Beach home, and started making and selling homemade furniture to pay for things.
In 2002, her aunt met a man by the name of Blake Jefferson, and the two of them began dating. Shandee liked seeing how happy he made her aunt, but something in her gut didn't sit right with him, and she didn't like him hanging around. It turned out that Blake was an alcoholic and after a year of dating, his and Charmaine's arguments turned into fights which were mostly one-sided. After getting annoyed at Blake hurting her aunt, Shandee started fighting back with him, only to find herself on the receiving end of his drunken, violent streaks. Shortly after this started, one of Shandee's teachers noticed bruises appearing on Shandee's face and arms, and she notified the police, who sent a case worker out to evaluate Shandee's home life. They took her away from Charmaine and Blake, three weeks before her seventh birthday, and they put her in her first foster home, with Greg, Lisa and Tom Porter.
While Shandee enjoyed the new experience of having a brother, that was about all she enjoyed from that family. She lived with them for about eight months, until she grew tired of their strict rules and discipline and tried to run away to her Aunt Charmaine's house. After knocking on the front door, Shandee was disappointed to find that strangers were living in her aunt's house, and they told her that they'd been living there for six months, before offering her a glass of water and calling the police to report a runaway child.
Shandee's case worker, Jill Moore, moved her into her second home, this time with Harold and Sylvia Klein. She liked the Klein's even less than her first foster home. The Kleins were not as nice, and after being hit with a belt after she was caught trying to sneak some TV after everyone went to sleep, Shandee decided to call her case worker herself, getting herself placed into a new home. While Shandee can still remember the names of most of her foster parents, she's tried to forget them all. By the age of twelve, she'd been through at least nine different foster homes, none of which stuck.
When she was fourteen, she'd made the decision to runaway from home yet again, but this time, she had no intentions of coming back. While on the run, and slightly dazed and disoriented, she finally stopped when some older students whom she recognized from high school, called over to ask her what she was crying about. Shandee explained to them that she was trying to run away from home, with the bruises on her stomach to confirm her story. The three guys took pity on her, and the oldest one, whose name she would later find out was Nick Watson, offered her a place to stay while she properly planned her escape. Shandee was cautious of them, but quickly came to the decision that they couldn't have been any worse than some of the other families she'd been in and agreed.
Nick and his younger brother, Marcus, took care of Shandee, even offering her some weed to put her nerves at ease while she recovered. Shandee soon found out that the three of them were drug dealers, and that Nick and Marcus had come from an abusive home too. The third boy, Damian Mendez, was a friend of Marcus'. After a few weeks, the boys realized they couldn't hide Shandee forever, after missing person posters were put up everywhere. After they offered to give her money and set her up with a friend out of town, Shandee decided to give herself up so that the police investigate them. After four weeks of missing school, she showed up, refusing to tell anyone where she'd been or what she was doing for that time.
This happened a few more times, before Nick, who was seriously concerned for both her safety and his own, found out about a house in Blackwood which took in runaway kids and gave them food and shelter. Nick told Shandee all about it, and Shandee, who also didn't want to get Nick in trouble, asked her case worker if she could stay there instead. Jill agreed, but only on the condition that Shandee had to stay there and couldn't run away again. Shandee made a promise and moved in a week after her fifteenth birthday.
She decided to take the opportunity to make a new start for herself. Jill was more than happy to help her look for jobs, although she didn't know that Shandee also had Luke and Marcus helping her look for jobs too. She eventually got hooked up with a job at Club Zoo, working as a bartender, serving non-alcoholic drinks. Even though the people working at Club Zoo were supposed to be seventeen or older, Nick helped her lie about her age, and she used her large breasts and tall height to do the rest of the convincing for her. She's been working there since early 2013, and now has a reputation amongst club regulars who know that for the right price, she'll slip something alcoholic into their drink.
Shandee knows very little about her biological parents, other than that they both died in a car accident when she was three. She was then sent to live with her Aunt Charmaine, until the age of seven, when her aunt's boyfriend started beating the two of them. Shandee's teacher noticed a few bruises popping up on her arms, and notified the police. After child services investigated her family, Shandee was taken away from her aunt and put into foster care.
Her first family, the Porters, seemed nice on the surface. Shandee looked forward to living with them, however, after she had trouble adapting to their strict discipline and rules, she attempted to run away, planning to go back to her Aunt Charmaine. After getting up to the house where her Aunt Charmaine used to live, she found out that her aunt no longer lived there, and the current residents called the police to say that Shandee had run away. Shandee was then placed into another foster family, the Kleins. After getting belted on a few occasions, Shandee decided to call her case worker, herself, and she got herself moved to a new family.
Currently, Shandee lives at Blackwood Home for Teens, where she's lived since she was fifteen. The only person she considers family is her Aunt Charmaine, but she's had no luck in trying to contact her. Unfortunately, the only thing she knew, her home address, has changed. Still, she visits her parents graves each year on their birthday, hoping one day that her Aunt Charmaine might appear.
She also has two friends, Nick and Marcus Watson, who care for her like family, even though she never calls them her family. Marcus is like a brother to her, while Nick is more of a father figure, whom she developed some romantic feelings for.
