Tamika is very short, curvy and prides herself in her dress sense. She likes to wear tight clothes which show off her curves, and she isn't afraid of wearing makeup. She also dyes her hair fairly regularly, getting a combination of unusual colors and patterns. She had an identical twin, up until she died in 2006, and the two of them quickly developed their own distinct styles to tell them apart, with Tamika leaning towards brighter, more eccentric outfits.
She has Indo-Trinidadian and Afro-Trinidadian ethnicity. She also has a tattoo on her left arm which says 'God is always with you' in Chinese. She got the tattoo after her twin sister died.
Tamika comes off as a very reserved person, who doesn't like to share much about herself. She's always been a very happy, energetic girl who has fun at parties, but she has more trouble being serious and talking about heavier topics. She's also impatient when people annoy her and has been known to have a bit of a temper, usually prompted by people shoving cameras in her face and asking invasive questions while she's just trying to go about her everyday life. Although she doesn't admit it, she grew tired of being a celebrity several years back, but she never knew what she would do with her life if she wasn't, so she stuck it out until she had a decent exit strategy. She's a bit lost at the moment, without anyone familiar around, and she's trying to get used to living a regular life.
Tamika led a privileged childhood, or at least that's what media reports would tell you. Right from the age of three months, she was working her way around Hollywood, being cast in roles with her twin sister Kamaria up until the age of six when she got her first role on her own. No one really pried into their lives, but the two of them were well liked by America's general public, with Tamika playing playful, happier scenes, while her sister would play sadder, more serious scenes. What no one knew about, or really asked about, was how having two children in show business affected their parents’ marriage, and it was brutal on them.
They spent every night fighting, while Tamika and Kamaria hid in their rooms, not wanting to end up on the receiving end of the sort of abuse that went on out in the living room. For some unknown reason, her parents stayed together, and the twins continued acting, up until they were fourteen and Kamaria decided she'd had enough and wanted to go to school. Tamika had no problem continuing with acting and being home-schooled, seeing as she liked the attention.
By the time they were supposed to start up college, Kamaria and Tamika made the discovery that none of their money from being child actors had been saved up, and to compensate, Tamika offered to pay for Kamaria's tuition while she missed out. The two of them also moved out of home shortly after, wanting to disassociate themselves from their parents as much as possible. This put a heavy burden on Kamaria, who didn't like feeling as though she owed anyone anything.
The more she relied on Tamika's acting jobs to survive, the more depressed she became, and that's when she started drinking, then smoking weed, then shooting up heroin until she fatally overdosed at a party while Tamika was out of town filming a movie. Tamika was devastated by the news, and for a while she would hardly leave her house, not in the mood to be hassled by paparazzi or fans. When she tried to return to film, everyone treated her differently, and she had more trouble getting the kind of roles she'd had her whole life.
For the first time in her life, people had started to question whether everything was picture perfect in her life, and after reports surfaced that her dad regularly abused her mom, people stopped liking the idea of having a nineteen year old girl with an abusive dad and deceased heroin-junkie twin as a positive role model for girls. No matter where she looked, no one wanted to take her on board, fearing that Tamika might just end up like her sister.
At the suggestion of her manager, she started going for grittier roles than she was used to. She started playing prostitutes and she regularly got cast in gang movies, or as a provocative dancer in music videos, since she'd loved dancing as a child. This only made her relationship with the media worse, as they started labeling her even worse, making up rumors about her sleeping with directors to get roles and going out drinking and partying every night. She ignored it, for the most part, deciding to ignore the constant criticism she received daily, and she attempted to undertake a singing career, stirring more controversy as she sang about sex, parties and drugs to keep up her image.
After getting arrested on her twenty-seventh birthday for punching out a paparazzi member, she found it even harder to land jobs, and at the request of her manager, she went for a visit to rehab for her alcohol addiction. By the time she got out, almost everyone had forgotten about her, and they'd moved on to the next controversy. She decided to take the opportunity to leave and start a new life, using her savings to buy a mansion out in Lebeaux, where it was quiet enough that she wouldn't have to deal with any paparazzi.
From a young age, Tamika harbored resentment to her father, for the way he would treat their mother whenever he was angry. She didn't think anything else of it, but she certainly didn't have the nerve to step in the middle of it. Even after she grew older and confronted her mother about it, her mother just dismissed her away, saying that she didn't understand love. Her parents currently live in California, where they've lived for the past forty-five years, and are still married, although Tamika rarely speaks to them anymore.
She also had an identical twin sister for nineteen years, a fact which helped her get her start as a child actor. The two of them were cast in several roles together, playing the same person, even though their personalities were far from the same. Kamaria and Tamika were each others' best friends, and Tamika would have done anything for her, which is why she was devastated when she found out that her sister died of a drug overdose in 2006 while she was in Canada, filming a movie.
|Basically, I really like Tamika and I like all these ideas I had for Tamika but when it comes down to it I just never use her and I don't have any plot ideas. Maybe one day I'll bring her back when we've got more adults around.|
