Mark sat on the floor of his living room, glancing at the unwrapped presents still around even after the holidays. He had yet to actually put them away due to his laziness. Sighing, he pulled his phone out from his pants pocket and glanced at the screen to check for any new messages. A smile came across his face at all the unread messages from Ashley. He opened them up and saw all the little hearts she had sent him through the texts. He quickly sent her back a few heart and kissing emojis. In a matter of a few seconds, he received another message from Ashley with just a smiley face. He smiled and sent her even more texts messages filled with emojis proclaiming his love for her in a way words where unable to do.
A knock sounded against his front door, and Mark quickly straightened up from his seated position. He glanced at his phone and saw more text messages filled with emojis flood his inbox. Uncertainty raced through him as he contemplated replying to the texts or checking to see who could possibly be at his front door on this happy occassion.
Slowly, Mark's mind came to a decision as he sent Ashley text messages expressing his love while also standing up to go check the door. His eyes were still focused on his phone as he unlocked the door and slowly opened it, a smile still plastered on his face as he saw the messages Ashley kept sending him. Mark glanced up at the sound of an excited squeal, surprised by the sudden sound. His eyes grew wide at the sight of Ashley standing in his doorway, covered head to toe with red and green colors for her outfit choice. She held in her hands a large box wrapped in blue wrapping paper with little snowmen on it.
"Ashley!" he exclaimed excitedly, leaning in for a hug.
She placed her hand up, stopping him from the embrace. "You need to open this first," she specifically stated, letting herself inside his house.
The young couple went to the tree and sat down. Mark pulled out the only wrapped present from under the tree and pushed it towards Ashley, with a big grin on his face. The smile on her face only grew wider when she saw he had a gift for her too. "Oh, you shouldn't have!" she exclaimed as she already began unwrapping it, lies lining each word she spoke.
"Of course I had to," he replied, rolling his eyes and waiting for her expression as she saw what he had gotten her. After both of them had unwrapped their presents, they rested on a blanket covering the floor together. Each had their phone out and were texting each other emojis proclaiming their love for each other and the presents they had just received.
