Violet stands at about average height. She has dark curly brown hair, that she may occasionally straighten. She prefers not to because of the effort that it involves, but she sometimes will find the effort and go for it. She loves to wear sweaters - especially during the fall and winter, and is always disappointed when it's the summer and far too hot for them. At work, she wears very simple, casual clothes since she spends her entire time baking and serving people. The last thing she wants is to get any of her nicer clothes dirty from baking all day. |

Violet has always been a very happy woman. Ever since she was a child, she's always tried her best to brighten people's days and make them feel better. She still always does this and hopes she can make people's days when they come in for the morning to her bakery. She's very gentle and kindhearted. Some have said over the years that Violet doesn't have a mean bone in her body, although she definitely does. It takes a lot for her to be mean to other people or lose her temper, as she hates doing either of the two. She also can sometimes be very sensitive, especially if someone is criticizing her or being a rude, obnoxious customer. She's also been very outgoing for most of her life. Throughout high school and her early twenties, she would talk to just about anyone and make friends with anyone. However, after Theo's death she hasn't really been very outgoing. Violet is still of course very friendly towards all she meets, but she no longer is making friends with strangers all the time. She's become much more closed off from the world and is perfectly fine with that. Sometimes she wants to get back to making friends, but then she decides it's easier the way she currently is. Violet is very compassionate and devoted - whether that be to her friends or her work. Either way, her focus is always on what matters to her. She is always there for those she cares about and has been known over the years to drop everything and help people out. She hates seeing people hurting and will do almost anything to help them. She can also be overtrusting and people will sometimes use this to their advantage. They know she'll do almost anything for them, so they'll convince her to do sometime for them. She has gotten hurt over the years by people she considered to be friends, but they didn't really consider the same thing. |
History |

In 1979, Aubrey Kingston and Winston Baptiste met each other in a neighborhood bar in NYC. Winston was originally from Trinidad and had only recently moved to NYC while Aubrey had moved from England to NYC during her teenage years. They began dating and in 1980 officially married each other. They continued living in NYC until 1983, two years after their first son Douglas's birth. They decided to move to Barfield for a sense of someplace new and a nicer, smaller place for their son and future children to live. They had a second son in 1984. On March 13, 1986, they had their daughter Violet Baptiste. The family had a nice, large house in Barfield as Aubrey was an orthodontist and Winston worked as a chef for a very five star restaurant. Growing up in the Baptiste household was a nice life for Violet and her two elder brothers. The siblings did often fight and argue, but were still very close with each other. They did almost everything together at all times. Violet loved spending time with her brothers - whether that time be spent playing with her dolls or their action figures or outside in the backyard. They were still always together. As Violet got older, she began to try and spend more time with her father. She loved whenever he came home and cooked for the family. She would spend her time in the kitchen watching him cook and convincing him to let her help. She may have been only six years old, but he would get her a stool to stand on so she could help stir whatever he was cooking. She loved feeling as if she was doing something important and helping him. Violet's older brother Wayne would also spend his time in the kitchen helping their dad cook. When high school came around, Violet's parents sent her to Harrington Grammar School. They believed that the private education would offer better academics for her than public school. They had also sent both of their sons to the school. In high school, Violet did her best to make as many friends as possible. She was a rather outgoing individual and wanted to participate in as many school activities as she could handle. She joined a few different clubs where she started making new friends. Her sophomore year one of her friends in one of her clubs convinced her to try out for the cheer squad. Her friend was already on the squad and thought it'd be great for Violet to join. At first Violet wasn't really interested in trying out. She was a cheerful, enthusiastic person, but she knew she wouldn't be able to chant all the time and memorize all the moves they had to do. Still, her friend continued trying to convince her and she did try out. When it came time to announce who made it, Violet wasn't on the list. She felt relieved, but pretended like she was disappointed around her friend. Violet's academics were also decent in high school. She wasn't exactly the smartest person in class, but she managed to always get honor roll. She wasn't ever really interested in any school subjects though. People would sometimes ask what she wanted to do with her life, but she would always say that she didn't really know. She wasn't interested in college either and wanted instead to skip out on going. For a while she tried to convince her parents to let her take a gap year and not attend a college right after high school graduation, but they wouldn't have it. They believed it was a horrible idea and wanted her to focus on her education and future career. In the end, Violet decided to simply attend Barfield Community College and hope to find something that interested her. During college, Violet got a job as a waitress at a little restaurant in Barfield. It wasn't her idea of an ideal job, but she still enjoyed it some of the time. One day during work, she met Theo Grenier. Theo had been waiting on his date to show up for their first date, but she never showed up. Violet was always talking to him and when it came near to the closing hours and he was one of the only people in the restaurant, she spent more and more time just talking to him. Before he left, he gave her his number and told her to call anytime. At first, Violet wasn't planning on calling. She wasn't sure what she would even do if she did call him. A few days later, she finally decided to call him. They set up a date at a restaurant near his house and they went on their first somewhat official date. Violet learned all about Theo and how his parents were both originally from France. His parents had moved to the area to work as professors at a nearby university. They lived in the mountains and almost three hours from Barfield. When Violet was twenty-two and Theo was twenty-five, the two decided to get married. It was a little ceremony with only close family members and friends. Neither one wanted anything to extravagant and wanted something more simple. A few months before the wedding ceremony, they decided to open a bakery together. They called it the Baptiste-Grenier Bakery. They moved into the apartment above the bakery and began working on getting the bakery ready for opening. It took two months to get everything completely set up and ready. They had the grand opening for the bakery a week after they got back from their honeymoon. At first business was slow, but it soon sped up as they became more popular. After almost a year of business, they hired two new people to help with the business. When Violet was twenty-seven, she and her husband went to go visit and stay with Theo's parents. They were going to stay there for a few days to celebrate the new year with his parents and family. His parents lived in a little house in the woods, a little ways away from the town. After a few days, Theo’s parents asked if he would go get a few little groceries for them and he of course obliged. He left the house and drove into town to get what they needed. While he was in town, a sudden blizzard came through, but had not yet reached the town. Violet tried to call Theo to tell him to stay where he was and not head home because she knew the way was dangerous, but she had little to no connection in the area and the power was out at the cabin. Theo started driving back to the cabin and was caught in the storm. He was going to keep driving, but decided it would be best to stop. As he was pulling to a stop, another driver on the road was speeding through and crashed right into Theo’s car, sending Theo’s car rolling off the side of the hill. He was found the next day and was just barely alive. He was immediately sent to the hospital. After a week, he died in his hospital bed as Violet watched. Of course, Violet was completely heartbroken. She wasn't sure of what to do next. For about two months, she rarely ever took care of the bakery. She instead hired a third person to help out and she rarely left her apartment. The only person ever on her mind was Theo. Finally, she decided to get back into the habit of working. This was mainly to distract herself from thinking about him. She was constantly baking and serving people in the bakery. It was almost robotic as she no longer felt the joy of baking. Whenever she would go back upstairs to her apartment, she would feel strange and odd. She would look at only the emptiness of her apartment without Theo in it. After almost two years, Violet slowly started to get better. She started feeling happy and relaxed while baking and cooking once again. The three people working for her were also able to notice a change in her character and the four started to become friends, as they saw each other almost all the time. Violet also hasn't dated anyone since Theo and isn't really planning on it. Some of her friends want her to get back out there, but she isn't really interested in doing anything. |

Winston Baptiste is Violet's father. He was born and raised in Trinidad, until he decided to move to the United States. He lived in New York City for a few years. He met Aubrey Kingston who was originally from England, but moved to New York when she was a teenager. The two started dating and soon married after a year. They decided to move to a smaller place away from NYC, and they ended up in Barfield. They had two sons together and then a daughter they named Violet. Violet grew up close to her father. He was a chef at a very fancy and expensive restaurant in Lebeaux and he would often teach Violet how to cook. She loved it and started always bothering her father to teach her new recipes. Over the years, they have still remained close to one another. Violet still often asks her father for new tips on baking and cooking and for any new recipes he has. Aubrey Kingston Baptiste is Violet's mother. She was born in England and lived there until her parents moved to NYC when she was still a teenager. Her older sister decided to stay in England because she was eighteen and didn't feel like leaving. Aubrey was tempted to stay with her, but also excited for an adventure. She began studying in NYC and became an orthodontist. She soon met Winston Baptiste and they began dating, and married one year later. She had three children with Winston. As a child, Violet was very close with her mom. Violet was always ready to take care of her children and loved it. The family would often go a little picnics at the park. Violet absolutely adores and loves her mother and still often talks to her and visits her. Douglas Baptiste is Violet's eldest brother, who is older than her by five years. The two were rather close as children, but when Douglas started high school and became a typical lame teenager, he no longer had time for his little sister. He mostly saw her as a nuisance who would get in his way whenever he had friends over. As Violet got older, the two grew close again. Once Douglas graduated high school, he moved to Los Angeles to attend university. He recently finished med school and is currently working as a doctor in LA. Douglas will sometimes come back to Barfield to visit his family, or they'll come to see him. Wayne Baptiste is Violet's older brother, who is older than her by two years. Violet and Wayne were close all throughout their lives. Even when Wayne was starting high school and acting like lame teenagers, he still made sure to spend time with his sister. They did practically everything together. Wayne also decided he wanted to become a chef like his father, and he currently works as a personal chef for a wealthy business man in Barfield. He will also sometimes stop by Violet's bakery and help her out whenever he has free time. Theo Baptiste-Grenier was Violet's husband. The two met when she was nineteen. They absolutely loved each other, and decided to get married when she was twenty-two. They decided to open a bakery together as a wedding present for themselves. They lived in the apartment above the bakery. At first, it took a lot of work to get the bakery to have good business, but soon enough they had loyal customers and new customers who had heard great things about them. The two were completely happy with how things were turning out for them and started planning on having a family soon. They would dream and talk about having maybe three kids together, because they definitely had enough room in the apartment for three kids. They also talked about maybe one day expanding the bakery and getting a larger shop for it. Before any of those dreams came true, Violet and Theo went to visit Theo's family who lived in a town a few hours away from Barfield. While there, there was a harsh blizzard and Theo was out driving. Another car crashed into his, causing him to drive off a hillside. He died one week after the accident. Violet has been completely heartbroken and was torn apart because of this. She hasn't dated anyone since Theo and isn't sure if she ever will be able to. |
