|Zahi Dominic Riad-Babineaux|
|Birthday:||August 5, 1989|
|Occupation:||Bartender @ Specks|
|Address:||66 Vienna Drive, Barfield|
Zahi has brown, curly hair that he will usually style to look nice. Other times he'll try and get rid of the curls, but most of the time he gives up and lets his hair do what it wants. He's often been told that he's very short for a guy - as he's 5'7", but he doesn't care in the slightest bit. Both of his parents were short, so he blames it on genetics. Zahi tends to have some facial hair too as he thinks it makes him look a bit older and more mature, but even without it he still doesn't look much younger than his age.
Zahi tends to wear a lot of plaid shirts. He usually rolls the sleeves up on his shirts too, but that's mostly to show off his tattoos. He also wears a lot of sweaters in the winter, and sleeveless shirts in the summer. He tries to put some thought into his clothes, but a lot of the time he doesn't care much. For dates, he always does clean up well though and makes sure he looks fantastic.
Zahi has his ears pierced and tends to always wear earrings. He also has quite a few tattoos that he loves to show off whenever possible. He has a tiny sun on his lower torso. On his right bicep, he has a tattoo of a heart in a box with little people underneath it. Also on his right arm, he has the dark mark on his inner forearm. On his left bicep he has a very intricate tattoo that wraps around his arm. He also has a very large Dumbledore tattoo on his left forearm. On his right shoulder blade, he has a tattoo that says "A l’impossible je suis tenu" which is French for "at the impossible, I am obliged." On his right thigh he has a tattoo that says "L’oeuvre est une sueur" which is French for "the work (in the theme of art) is sweat."
Zahi is a very independent individual and has been even when he was younger. He doesn't really like to rely on help from others and will try to do things on his own. He is also very private and keeps things to himself. He doesn't really like to announce to the world everything about his personal life. There are some things he is okay with discussing with strangers and acquaintances, but mostly he doesn't tell them really anything. Zahi is also very loyal to his friends and family and will do almost anything for them. He doesn't make it too obvious though and will sometimes complain about helping them, but that's mostly just him being sarcastic and annoying. He actually doesn't mind.
Zahi can sometimes be very socially awkward, especially when meeting new people. He might start acting a bit weird and will usually not speak too much. He'll usually fiddle with his fingers or constantly ran his hands through his hair when talking to a stranger. He also can be extremely sarcastic around just about everyone he meets. Around those he knows well, it is almost impossible for him to turn off his sarcasm. Zahi can also be very apathetic and rarely shows any enthusiasm for anything - unless it's something that he really loves. Zahi also has trouble with keep his money as he tends to always spend it. He tries to save money to afford to become a full-time college student, but then he gets the idea for a new tattoo and starts saving for that too. He doesn't know how to manage his money, even though he knows that he needs to.
Zahi was born in Quebec to Hasan and Zoe Riad-Babineaux. The couple had been married for about two years when they found out they were going to be having a child. Hasan and Zoe met at the store Hasan worked at and started dating. After six months they decided to get married, which shocked most people they knew. Hasan and Zoe decided to hyphenate their last names together because they felt it would work best. They decided to name their first son Zahi, which means beautiful and brilliant in Arabic and gave him the middle name Dominic, after Zoe's grandfather. Three years after Zahi's birth, they had a second child and a daughter they named Ruwa.
Zahi grew up in Quebec and learned to speak French as a child. He also learned some Arabic from his father, but not enough to say he is fluent in it. He forgot most of it as he grew older. In Quebec, his family lived in a little apartment in Quebec City. His mother worked as a secretary for a small business and his father worked for a little store. After a few years, he was promoted to store manager which helped bring in some extra cash for the family. Zahi loved living in Quebec City, but when he was ten, his parents decided they wanted to move to the United States. They didn't tell their children, but began to learn English. Zahi's mother already knew English as that was her father's first language. She began to teach her husband and children English, while also using other resources for them all to learn the language. Since Zahi and Ruwa were both young, it was easy for them to learn the language while their father had more trouble with it. He still had trouble with French, so learning yet another language wasn't what he really wanted.
When Zahi was twelve, his parents announced that they were officially moving to the United States. They had found a a cheap house in Barfield to move to and were already making plans. A few days after Zahi's thirteenth birthday, his family officially moved to Barfield. Zahi was immediately homesick for Quebec City, but kept it to himself. He didn't want to complain to his parents who seemed so excited for the move. His mother began working for a larger company in Barfield and being paid much more. His father worked for another store though, but was the store manager there too. By the time Zahi was fifteen, he stopped being as homesick for Quebec and began to quite like it in Barfield.
In high school, Zahi was very private and kept mostly to himself. He did have a few friends in a small little group of a bunch of losers. He preferred having a few close friends rather than many different ones that he didn't know too well. Zahi tended to do very well in school, but people never really mentioned it much. His teachers never praised him for doing well, but tended to praise the other, more outgoing students. He didn't mind though as he preferred to not have much attention on him. He did very well in his art classes though. He wasn't exactly the best painter or drawer, although he could certainly do both, but he fell in love more with photography. He decided that he wanted to do photography in the future.
When Zahi was seventeen, he decided to come out to his family and friends as gay. He had known he was interested in men since he was young, but he never admitted it to anyone. He kept it private and to himself - like he does with most things. Before long, someone had told a few others in the school about him being gay and everyone seemed to know about it after a while. He didn't care much at all, but some people were surprised to find out there was an actual gay person in their class. He was just whatever about the whole thing and ignored the world.
After graduating high school, Zahi wasn't able to afford to attend college. He had applied for different scholarships, but none of them had accepted him. He had hoped to be a full-time student, but he started attending Barfield Community College part-time. He took only two classes per semester as that was all he could afford. He also started working two part-time jobs, both of which he hated. He only kept the jobs because he needed the money. He also moved out of his parents' home when he was nineteen and ended up with a small art studio. It was very cheap and tiny, but enough for him. Zahi also started dating after he graduated high school, although it wasn't until the age of twenty. He met his first boyfriend at a club that Zahi technically wasn't supposed to be at, but he had a fake I.D.
After four years, Zahi was finally able to graduated from BCC. It had taken him longer than most people he knew who graduated in just two years, but because he was part-time it took him much longer. Zahi had mostly taken art classes at the college and continued being an artist. At first, he had a job for a photographing company in Barfield. He worked as an assistant to one of the photographer's, but he was never able to do really anything other than get the photographer coffee and food. He would sometimes suggest different things to the photographer, but he would just ignore Zahi and say that 'he didn't know what he was talking about.' Zahi grew tired of this and asked the company if he could work for someone else. He also tried to get a job as a photographer, but to no avail. He finally quit at the age of twenty-five and began working at Specks as a bartender.
Zahi doesn't mind his job at Specks, but is still searching for other jobs. He has applied for photography jobs in the area, including AVM Modeling Agencies and Belle Magazine Headquarters. They both told him they weren't currently hiring, but would keep his resume and portfolio for in the future when they do need a new photographer. Until then, he's going to keep working as a bartender. He doesn't mind the job too much. Sometimes it can get annoying when people are constantly flirting with him or telling him their life story and all their problems, but he's gotten used to ignoring them for the most part.
Hasan Riad-Babineaux is Zahi's father. Hasan was born in Egypt where he lived until he was sixteen. His parents decided to move to Quebec City in Canada. Hasan had some trouble with the move as he had to learn French in this new city. He slowly started to be able to speak it better after a few years, but he still had much trouble with the language. When he was twenty-four, he met Zoe Babineaux and they began dating. After six months, they decided to get married.
